Just picked up a Pearl Reference 14 x 6.5 off a friend who was selling it.

Well going threw a few heads that were kicking around the basement I figured I'd tape it and watch it back after to decide.

I ended up going with the Evans G1 which I started to use at 4:00 into the video. mid to tight tuning with a tiny peice of moon gel.

The HD dry on my brass snare has to go. It is just too dead.

I must state. This reference is LOUD and man. I couldn't be happier

Both sounded great. The Reference I liked as you describe with the small moongel. The free floater reminds me of Jimmy Chamberlain on Siamese Dream.

the 20 plys make it pretty dry. the brass one likes to open up... That reference is freaking loud though. I love it so much :) has such a nice crack to it

The video doesn't do it justice to be honest. In the room each hit sounds like a gunshot. I just got it this week. Have a few gigs coming up though. Can't wait
