Christmas came early and this guy arrived today. Sonor Prolite 14x5. Natural finish. Vintage maple shell. This the first Sonor drum I have ever owned/played. First impressions - build quality is excellent; the shell is noticeably undersized; thus far tuning is very easy (I have it a bit high right now to let the heads settle in); i am quite enamored with it. Unfortunately, it may result in the need for a full kit.

I tapped around on two Benny Greb snares Saturday, they were astounding.
The mufflers were really cool .

I had never really looked over a snare of theirs before …..

Congratulations….

Welcome home…. No seriously, every Sonor guy will talk about the undersized shell as the common mojo all the German drums have and the response is “well all drums are undersized that how come the heads fits”; but it’s not until you get one and compare it to another company that just how undersized it really is; only Premier came close; you can see the gap all around on your reso head; btw - the kits just as fine

It is a trip just how different it from the shells on my Ludwig and gretsch snares. Really a cool drum. And the build quality is impeccable.

Same for me, if it wasn't from one of the guys here who pointed me out to them when I was asking advices about a small collection of snares, I would have never bought the Brass one... And the beech might be on my to buy list too in the future....

Congrats - it doesn't get any better!

I have a Prolite 14"x5" brass with die-cast hoops, and I couldn't be happier.
