I'm not saying that our new member Jimmy is the person that I thank (or blame) for my buying this cool Ampeg 300 watt tube rig.

But I'm also not saying that he isn't...

Seriously, it's cool to see you here.

I'll do my best to be your Gretsch USA Custom influencer on here as a thank you...

A pet peeve of mine at jam sessions
All the players except drummer are involved in discussion of knowing the next tune .
We are expected to know them all .
Also , guitarists can just start a riff and everyone jumps in …

No one jumps in when I play a beat to a song .

Elvin Jones said Coltrane would do that on their gigs. He would just start playing a song, and the rest of the band would figure out what it was and join in.

Welcome! Love your kit. Major coolness factor. Just fiddle around until you get things where you're comfortable. I am constantly tinkering. It's just fun to try something different and see how it fits. I am currently struggling with cowbell placement, but that's nothing new. And if you dig the sound of the toms without bottom heads, just leave it.

It's working, although at this point I'd be lucky to afford a used Catalina set :D Still, a guy can dream...

Great to see you on here, bro!

Welcome to the forum, JimmyM! I must say the drums look more comfortable to play already in the second pic when compared to the first.

Definitely. Since then I have moved the Tom even closer to the middle of the bass drum and flatter. Still think I need an 8x12 instead to get it right but this is a great improvement. Thx everyone for the tips and porn!
