Ha I picked up an estate load that included 200. Only a few were worth $25 to $50. I kept a half dozen and passed on the rest. I discovered that if it appears to be a century old it probably a reproduction.
I had a nice collection that my dad brought home from Europe, he was in the air force during ww 2.
They would fly to different countries to get supplies for their base and he would pick up beer mugs where they stopped.
I had close to twenty really cool ones with the lids, never thought they were worth that much.
I have some that my Uncle passed on to me about 20 years ago when I graduated college. I wasn't going to walk in the ceremony and he said he'd give me these steins if I did. I had them displayed at the old house but haven't found a place for them in the new so they are still boxed. I haven't done any research on them as to how old or valuable they are.
Here is my collection, some of these are very old, 2 are from around 1900. The one with the figure for the lid was bought from a Catholic Church rummage sale in the early 40's by my dads step mom, I do not know the age but do know that it is pre-war and worth a lot of money.
Yesterday’s score, I paid $125.00. Left rear and middle front are from 1890 to 1910. Front right is an architects stein, very rare, worth $200 easy. Front left has the lid engraved in german - for your birthday 13 August 1933. Back right is a german regimental stein,
