Could someone explain to me how deflating a football would benefit anyone.
Personal preference, also according to what I have read, the head referee has sole discretion on something like this, at half time it was brought to their attention they checked it out and deemed it no big deal, they could have called the game right then and there, and then the Pats crushed the Colts ( I do believe) in the 2nd half. So much for the advantage to the Pats.

I am no Patriots fan but Tom Brady is definitely the GOAT and will be a network commentator in 5 years ala Tony Romo, Collingsworth etc.
No way he is staying away from football.

I wonder if he would join the Manning Bros football broadcasts? Peyton and Eli are already a blast to listen to. Adding Tom into the mix and THAT could really be entertaining!

We all saw this coming, but my buddies were set on his announcement coming next week to hijack the thunder from the Super Bowl. We've been down this road folks, it's a toe in the water by Brady's Agent to garner other teams interest. What's next for Tom you ask? His agent wants him to get the limelight of a big market and that has me thinking he goes to the Jet's.

How do you know what his agent wants?
At 45 years old, I believe that he will actually retire from playing football.
We'll see.....

He’s only the GOAT if you go by SB rings …

I think other QBs were better ..
Packer Backer here so yes there may be better QB's (our last two have been pretty good) but SB rings surely mean something.

Does one team practice with deflated balls and the other with fully inflated ones?
Does each team use their own balls?

I guess one more year was worth the cost of his marriage; now seeing his kids on odd number weekends and every other holiday….

Not a real believer in Super Bowl Rings being the "main" factor considering that if you drafted by the "wrong" team you'll never get the SB wins.
It's one factor though. For years many believed that it was the Pats' coaches (player selection and plays) that were possibly the key factor in getting to many Super Bowls. After Brady left them,
it became a lot clearer on what a huge part he was. Comparing early 1980's Montana to 2000's Brady is just too difficult because of all the rules and player changes that have occurred.
That's like deciding who the best fighter pilot is.........Maverick or Iceman.

Just for the record, Tom Brady did not get suspended for deflating a football, that was thrown out of court, it then went to a higher court and the judges ruled that the NFLPA and the Commissioner had an agreement and they said " we are not going to get in the middle of this" soooo Roger Goodell suspended Brady....because he could, he hates the Patriots and it shows.

Well said drawtheline55. Everyone only remembers what they want to remember. Tom Brady is the real deal and what made him good aside from his physical football skills was just how smart he was. Roger Goodell not only hates the Patriots but he hates the United States of America.

The only QB in the conversation with Brady as far as being the GOAT is Montana. That's it.

Also - we don't know anything about the mans personal life so to assume him playing one more season caused his divorce is naïve and dumb.
To me, Johnny Unitas will always be the standard by which all others are judged, and he played in an era without the benefit of pass interference or rules to protect the passer. Receivers were able to be hit right off the line of scrimmage and all the way through their routes, and offensive linemen were not allowed to extend their arms to block. Defenses were actually allowed to play defense. If a quarterback in that era completed 50% of their passes, they were All-Pro. Unitas in 1959 passed for 32 touchdowns in a 12 game season, only one other quarterback even had 20. And offenses only threw the ball 26% of the time that season.
Not to take anything away from Brady or Montana, but both were beneficiaries of the post 1978 rule changes. Montana at least played when qb's were still allowed to be hit. God, if Brady was ever hit the way Montana was by Leonard Marshall or Jim Burt, the defender would be banished from the league, and possible criminal charges would be filed. Honestly, defenses are so watered down now that even a marginal passer like Josh McCown retired with a career completion percentage of 60%. Today's game is nothing more than glorified arena football.
And Unitas called ALL his own plays.

A lot of good points, I am old enough to remember Johnny Unitas and great he was, the game was much rougher....and its rough now, agreed on the 50% completion rate, that was a big one to hit.

But times change and I would prefer rules that make the game safer, I mean there are still too many concussions.

Who was speaking of Tony Williams?
I was speaking of Tom Brady.
There is a thread that has people in a kerfuffle over speculation on things that aren't proven. We can state Marriages are ruined over X without any knowledge, but calling TW an ass is off limits.

That thread mysteriously vanished.

Must have been the rapture.
