Never understood why they didn't make more. The pearl has such a great depth to it.... View attachment 587563
I so totally get the depth thing... This is something that no camera can really capture so pictures never truly convey the three-dimensionality of certain Pearloids, Oysters or Glass glitter finishes. And Gretsch has had some of the most visually stunning of those through the years. This emerald pearl is a prime example. Just be glad they haven't "diluted" the effect by flooding the market with it. (Cough! Cough! Lookin' at you Ludwig with Blue and black oyster pearls...)

These things should be here in the new year. 20,12,14 USA's in the same finish as my Broadkasters, satin natural. I was nonchalantly looking at kits for a few months. I looked at asba and inde even Barton's. The absolute killer price I got on these, brand new off the floor was too good to pass up.

For me Gretsch has always been about their sound and lacquer finishes . I can appreciate the Nitron finishes but lacquer is it for me . Back in 1978 when I was 17 and looking for my first pro level kit , I was considering a Rogers Memriloc kit because my instructor at the time had one . I started lessons at another Toronto shop that was a big Gretsch Dealer and they had a huge selection of shell packs in most of the lacquer finishes Gretsch carried at the time . I fell in love with these lacquer finishes . I love the grain poking through the stain . Just gorgeous .
