I'd find it useful to have a list of online cymbal sellers that have soundfiles or videos of the exact cymbal you'll get.

Here's what I've found:

Memphis Drum Shop / myCymbal.com (Tennessee, USA):

CymbalsOnly (New York, USA):

Cymbal Planet (New York, USA):

Cymbal House (Kentucky, USA):

Philadelphia Drum & Percussion (Pennsylvania, USA):

The Drum Shop (Maine, USA):

Round Sound Cymbals (California, USA):

Hazelshould (California, USA):

Please add any that I didn't list.

Life's richer with some mystery and unknown....till you have it right in your face.
(substitute cymbal for whatever)
..right in your hands.

And even then it remains a joyous fresh surprise new every day. or after a month. or after a year and after 10 years..

cymbals aren't one-dimensional.
and for the benefit of mankind, don't try and make or wish them so.

2) and never discount nor distrust your own developed instincts. to the point where you need no sound-file. from hands-on experience and intuition you are eventually able to surprise yourself.
einstein said instinct was if not more than - as important as- scientific knowledge..

Just remember that while you’ll get a good idea of what it sounds like, a lot will depend on how their different rooms are set up for recording. Your experience may vary.

Yes, you almost have to buy 1 or 2 cymbals and compare how they sound in person to the sound file/video in order to be able to interpret the seller's files/videos. Then you have to hope their recording setup doesn't change.
