Had no interest in more zombie stories but some friends harassed me into watching it. Thought the first two episodes were fine enough but the third episode was incredible. Genuinely got me a little choked up!

If that's the show - little vignettes about hope and happiness in a dead world with the big picture story in the background - I'm totally on board.

It's been really exhausting watching shows and movies explore furthest reaches of human misery through the apocalypse story blitz of the past 20 years. Seeing such a well executed story about how the end of the world actually created something happy for two people was really nice. Let's get more of that.

Loved the first game, haven't played the second because reasons. And so far, this series is incredible. They're sticking enough to the source material to keep it faithful, but the things they have changed have been great choices. I like what Neil Druckman said in the after the episode stuff, where he said (paraphrasing) "if we want to change something, it has to be better than the game. if it's not, then we don't change it." And like I said, so far the changes have definitely been better. Especially with Bill and Frank's story. In the game, we are only told that Bill and Frank were together, but Frank was dead by the time Joel and Ellie got there. And Bill was still alive. So, we did miss out on some pretty cool moments by them changing things, like the huge clicker in the high school gym, Joel getting caught in one of Bill's traps, and Joel and Bill having to push the truck down the street. But again, the way they explored Bill and Frank's relationship was much better for TV. They basically swapped over the top, kind of far fetched action, for genuine emotional relationship building.
