I used to like Pink Floyd. Then Roger Waters opened his mouth and spoke out out loud.

Nugent and Clapton are notorious. But, never heard anything like that about Van Morrison. Do tell!I used to be a huge Dave Matthews Band fan. I still like the music for the most part. I saw them a bunch in the early 00's. Sort of soured on them after that. I've still been to some shows since but I think I'm done now. I saw them in November and I just can't anymore. I still enjoy Carter Beauford. I just think the band is creatively finished and my musical tastes evolved.
As far as other reasons, Ted Nugent, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison. I was never huge fans of any of them but knowing they are not very good human beings makes it worse.
Did Axl really force Matt to abuse the "Pat Boone - Debbie Boone" fill? Is there a backstory here I'm not aware of?My particular band is Guns N Roses. The first album is unassailable, even some of Lies. But once they did Abuse Your Intrusion Phases I and II or whatever, they totally lost me. I wake up at night hearing that dub dub dubba dub fill that Axl forced Matt Sorum to play over and over like musical waterboarding.
I agree with the Aerosmith going downhill.Well yeah, when Aerosmith started doing the dude looks like a lady stuff a lot of us were changing radio stations. There's a vid on Youtube about how/why they fired Megadeth like two shows into a tour but I want to know why Megadeth was even on the bill?
Ted Nugent defined the term shredder and had some really great stuff but I couldn't spend 3 minutes in the same room with him. Personality thing.
Same here. I was working in the garage this weekend and had some sort of “classic” playlist going on Spotify. After two CCR tunes played somewhat closely together I had to bail.John Fogertys voice drives me up the wall now …..I can’t believe it …..
Just read a few articles. Apparently, his latest album is a major rant/coming out/reveal! I’d like to say I’m surprised, but, really nothing surprises me anymore. Too bad, because, I think he’s a brilliant musician! Not much but he and Eric Clapton did the anti-vaccination collaboration during Covid. I also recall hearing that he has refused to play his most popular songs in concerts. He's also been accused of anti-semitism.
"The music hasn't changed"? It sure seems like it has to me. They completely lost me at "Permanent Vacation" and they were one of my absolute favorite bands. I can still listen to the album up to and including "Done with Mirror", but the stuff that "revived" their career does nothing for me. Steven Tyler seems like a real horse's ass, but that isn't the issue for me.Inspired by the ‘Drummers you like but not the band’ thread.
Over the past couple years I caught myself changing the station when Aerosmith came on.
I grew up on them, seen them live in their heyday, and bought most of their albums when I was younger.
The music hasn’t changed, but stories from bands they have toured with describing their jealousy, rudeness, disrespect, have made their music unlistenable to me.
According to opening acts they would routinely sabotage their set, pull the plug on them, never leave time for an opener sound check, even kick them off the bill for doing too well with audiences.
I have the same issue with listening to Billy Joel after learning of his treatment of his drummer, Liberty Devitto.
Anyone else have trouble separating the music from the artist behaviors?
What I meant was the songs that I liked from Aerosmith back in the day haven’t changed."The music hasn't changed"? It sure seems like it has to me. Pity....you must've missed out on some really great stuff at that time.Sting and his turtles , whew !! no thanks .
I think much of it depends on how much the person really enjoyed the art before the knowledge came out. Very happy Deshaun Watson didn't end up on my football team.Michael Jackson was a damaged individual, but I have zero problem listening to his songs. I can even listen to the Beach Boys' 20/20 album, which has the work of THREE, yes three convicted murderers on it(Jim Gordon, Phil Spector, and Manson). Look, if you're not one of those people who can't separate art from the artist, then, fine, but that's a VERY slippery slope. Think of all the excesses that rock stars got into on a daily basis, with both illegal substances and underage females.....is that OK? How about spousal abuse? What I'm saying is....if you're looking to make value judgments on rock/pop musicians....probably barking up the wrong tree.

I think what really bothers me about them is that they have exactly one sound. Now that sound is good, and certainly has sustained them for decades, but what they really can't do is play covers. They bring absolutely nothing to them and sound like a sub-par bar band. Knockin On Heaven's Door might be the worst. All the pain of the original's existential crisis reduced to what sounds like being annoyed that someone cut in front of you at Mc Donald's. And Axl's ad-libs? eek. Hay, hay, hay, h*change station*. They got their mojo back with Chinese Democracy, but that one took forever!

I don't think Chris Brown should have a career.
Ian Watkins ruined Lostprophets, even the former members have come out to ask that people don't support the music.
I don't try to financially support POS people when it's easily avoidable. Labor markets with clothes? I can't exactly walk around nude everywhere I want to go.
Avoid buying the Beatles 10th movie because Lennon was a douche? Not that difficult to avoid financially supporting the conglomerate.
I may enjoy some of the art, but I'm going to try to not give them my money where I can avoid it.
I understand unethical things are done in many circumstances and people (especially with money/power).
Google it yourself. I don’t make this stuff up. It’s not for discussion in a place like this. He’s never been one to play the hits. That’s one of the more endearing things about the true artists out there.
As to the anti-whatever crap … his last two albums were railing against the government. But that’s Van. You either get it or you don’t. Rage Against He Machine anyone? How many other bands railed against “the man”?
Now … the anti-semitism ... that’s a pretty serious thing to accuse someone of without giving proof. Not something you just wanna say off the cuff like you’ve done here.

I'm not going to get baited into a discussion on my personal feelings about someone that apparently offended you. I said he was accused of antisemitism and that isn't a lie. Disagree if you like. You seem to be the only person taking issue. I'm not talking politics. I'm talking about why I don't like him. He's entitled to his opinion. I'm entitled to mine. You are entitled to yours. Nobody has to agree on everything. Leave it at that.Did you even read the lyrics in question?
That doesn‘t mention Jewish people.
Perhaps these people that wrote it on this here internet have a thing about that jab?
Carry your water if you like, but maybe keep things factual in the future and avoid the political crap so prevalent online.
We avoid posting political stuff in posts on the drum forum as it is against the rules here.
Maybe you should not have posted it in the first place?
