What types of hobbies do you have beyond drums and music? For me, drums is mostly it since most of my time is simply working or spending time with the family. I’d like to do other things, but just don’t have much time to commit to other endeavors. Let’s hear about your hobbies!

At one time it was collecting and restoring vintage writing instruments, mainly fountain pens. These days it's reviewing books and music (and products) on Amazon and other sites. All in fun and something to keep me busy.

Winemaking. (And wine drinking.)
I made beer for almost 40 years, from scratch. Bottled, kegged, drafted. Then I stopped drinking beer, moved on to bourbon.

Lately fishing has always been my go to but I was out once this year.

Caught a bunch.

Getting my (mess) back together is my latest hobby. I'll let you know how that works out.

Hobbies?
Well … I enjoy video games … playing them … studying them ... designing them.
I don’t do much designing these days, but I do still enjoy playing them.
I started on a Pong system that the parents bought many years ago.
I tried out system after system growing up.
Then I found Nintendo.
The wife and I were walking a mall in Washington State when we walked up on one of the first very large Nintendo kiosks that displayed and introduced the NES to America (after a short experimental attempt on the East coast).
It was a huge rectangle and had about a dozen or so NES playable units set up on each side.
The wife and I stopped and watched. Eventually we both played.
Minds were blown.
That was an incredible moment for me.
It lit a fire in me on what HOME video games could be.
So far above and beyond anything that had ever been designed.
I‘ve been researching and studying and learning about them ever since.
I spent time teaching youth how to design and code the first video game I ever played in my home - PONG.
I keep the coding platform based on APPLE (Swift) so that we can make the computer connection and go beyond games into APPS and such.
Then we would move on to one of the coolest pieces of code Steve Wozniak/Jobs ever pumped out - BREAKOUT.
A blast!
It has been an incredible hobby over the years.
And it has impacted quite a few young lives … more than a handful are now working as coders and other digital related fields.
Very satisfying.

I shoot trap competitively when not bird hunting and build custom fly rods when not fishing. My bird dogs are a full time hobby themselves. Too many hobbies. Not enough time.

Astronomy, microscopy, refurbing audio gear, thrift store vinyl, just bought a Garrett metal detector.
Oh, and thrifting. All of the above came from thrift stores, Craigslist, or FB marketplace.

At one time I was an avid homebrewer. Then I was fishing pretty intensely. Now drumming is the only thing I have time for. I do miss fishing.
We don't have wonderful lakes in my area but I'm happy as a clam with small, successful fishing experiences. Over the years I've found lots of quiet spots in my local creek where I have a 50/50 chance of pulling up at least a small bass pretty quick. (This evening they were quite small, but I pull up the occasional 3-pounder.) If I have an hour and a half free I can just zip over there and try my luck. I commute into the heart of a giant city for work, and I've also found some nice little bass spots I can hit during my lunch break.

Aside from drums, I play guitar, bass, and keys. I really enjoy recording, the gear, and the technology around it. Besides music, the only other hobby I actively pursue is Ice Hockey (I ref and play). I used to play video games before my daughter was born, but I just can't justify those hours anymore.

I used to be a pretty serious baseball player and bowler in my younger days. I can't throw a baseball without pain anymore, but I've been planning to get a modern bowling ball and hit the lanes, at least from time to time.

I do a lot of projects around the house. I’ve built cabinets in the living room and two of the bedrooms. Currently working on renovating the kitchen and once that’s complete I’ll build an outdoor kitchen. I also work on motorcycles and restore drums. I do some welding and am also a wannabe machinist. Basically I love tools and working on stuff.
