I recently finished Life, the autobiography by Keith Richards. I'm not much of a Stones fan, but I really enjoyed the book; lets call it the magic of lowered expectations. Richards spends less time than expected detailing the Chuck Berry film/performance, Hail, Hail, Rock 'n; Roll, that he was instrumental in putting together. It was also apparently the genesis of The X-pensive Winos.
I had never seen the 1987 film, and figured it was about time. I'm really glad I finally watched it, and I'm really glad Keef went to the effort to document Chuck Berry, still in his prime, with a top notch band -- Steve Jordan kills!! But at two full hours, the movie seems long. There are some great clips of Bo Diddly and Little Richard in casual conversation with Chuck.
If you're into Rock 'n' Roll history, I encourage you to read Life, and watch Hail, Hail.

I love both that book and the movie. It was very funny when Keith talks about Chuck renting his own amp, back to Keiths' production company...

Cheers and blessings, Trey
