He was 84.
He always wanted to be a DJ so music was always on in our house...cars...he leant me the money for my 1st real kit and let me work in his pharmacy to pay him back. We'd share books and CDs...we saw shows together (Buddy Rich, Rush, Ozomatli, Boston Pops recently).

My parents live in an independent living facility near where my band practices...so for the last 8 months or so we'd do dinner regularly. Last week I helped my folks pack their cars for their place on Cape Cod and he was so excited to be on another adventure with my mom (they met in college).

He wasn't flawless...he owned that...but he was all for more learning "if you're not learning your dead...." was one of his famous mantras.

My dad new how I felt about him...and vice versa...things can happen quickly so make sure you let those around you know how you feel...my $.02

Sorry for your loss. I lost my dad very suddenly four years ago. It's tough.

Sorry for your loss. My dad passed many years ago but reached 90 which (as a cricketer in his time) he said was "a good innings". Stay strong and keep the good memories.

Condolences...I don't know if there is another relationship as complicated as the one between a father and a son. My father is gone now for 10 years and I still cannot figure some things out. All the best to you and the family through these rough times.

Deepest condolences.

84 is a pretty good run though. There's never a "good" time to lose a parent but you are fortunate he was around for this long.

I honor the memory of my father by trying to be an honest man . He taught me well , I carry his words and pass them on to my own son .
