Very sorry to hear about your dad. Although things will never be quite the same without him, you were indeed lucky to have him in your life for so long.
Sorry to hear that! RIP!He was 84.
He always wanted to be a DJ so music was always on in our house...cars...he leant me the money for my 1st real kit and let me work in his pharmacy to pay him back. We'd share books and CDs...we saw shows together (Buddy Rich, Rush, Ozomatli, Boston Pops recently).
My parents live in an independent living facility near where my band practices...so for the last 8 months or so we'd do dinner regularly. Last week I helped my folks pack their cars for their place on Cape Cod and he was so excited to be on another adventure with my mom (they met in college).
He wasn't flawless...he owned that...but he was all for more learning "if you're not learning your dead...." was one of his famous mantras.
My dad new how I felt about him...and vice versa...things can happen quickly so make sure you let those around you know how you feel...my $.02

Sorry for your loss. I love this mantra by the way. I'm going to adopt it....but he was all for more learning "if you're not learning your dead...." was one of his famous mantras.
