After 20+ years in the workforce and moving here in 2022, the place I moved here for was a complete bust and I was out of the job after only 2 months. I was out of work for a month and a half and reluctantly had to take a job as a contractor. I've never worked as a contractor before and now I understand why.

It was completely the wrong fit for me. You get an hourly rate, that's it. No paid time off, no bonuses or raises, no paid for being on-call, nothing. I really had a difficult time with it, especially after the place I was working promised me full-time employment, only to switch up their story and notify us we were going to lose our jobs instead. And of all the times to deliver the news, it was right around the holidays last year. Unreal.

Long story short, it ended this past Thursday. So I'm out of work until hopefully the end of this month when another company is stating they will bring me on. They interviewed me back in February and was supposed to hire me at the end of March. But the usual bull and red tape got in the way, so now it's supposedly pushed back to April.

I will be listing items for sale soon as I need the money to live. I have some drums & cymbals that will be going up soon.

I don't have many friends to rely on, so I had to tell someone. I appreciate your time.

@Nubs sorry you're going through the poop man, it sucks. Hopefully all of it will be in the past soon and you'll be back on top. Keep that positive faith going, no matter how trying and it'll turn around. We're al here for ya, no matter how distant. Bright side...more time to practice!

What industry were you in before contractor stuff?

Nubs: We’ve all gone through it. Don’t despair. Where are you located and what was your industry you were in before the contracting stuff?

Very sorry to hear. I’m going through similar $ issues, although mine is more health related. All the best getting back on track.

Like sometimes throws you a curve ball. I am still dealing with mine that happened to me just before Christmas. Stay strong and positive...when a door closes, a window opens. Look for that window and don't look back. Tomorrow is another day and another opportunity. Don't despair, the tide will bring you something useful.

Sorry dude, sometimes gotta take a step back to go two steps forward.
Keep an open and positive mind and you’ll be fine. Best to you!

I've been there as well. Don't give up — when I was let go and unemployed for a stretch the job I finally landed turned out to be the most lucrative of my entire career, lasting more than six years until I retired 3½ years ago.

Many of us have been there. I have a daughter who supports me these days but had to sell stuff in the past and tried to sell only the stuff I had not been using but it still sucked. Hang in there.

Wow! Thank you so much everyone! This level of support is rare to me, so I really do appreciate it!

For those wondering, I work in IT, particularly the finance industry. I have been in the credit union industry for 18+ years.

I will be listing items for sale either this evening or tomorrow. I'm going to sell most everything I have and hope that is enough.

I will also reply to the DMs I received. But for now, I need to get away for the day.

Thank you all again!
