OT- New Cat

The best cat who ever lived passed away last month. I had him and his sister. Obviously a very grief filled couple weeks followed.
The sister cat has been really depressed. She’s never been alone before.
So I decided to adopt a new kitten to keep her company. They are still getting used to each other so aren’t buddy buddy yet but they should be in a week or so. There’s a whole PITA process to introduce cats to each other but it’s going well.

That said, the new kitten is really cool. Super friendly and outgoing which I prefer.

Got him from a great local non for profit rescue in my neighborhood.

That's great! We have four. When we lost our Russian Blue 3 years ago we got a new kitten right a way and our female just wouldn't have it. She was down right mean to the pour little guy to the point that she had cornered him in the litter box and then he quit using it. We tried for about another week after that but ended up taking him back. We waited another month or so and decided to try and adult cat and she accepted him. Then three months later my wife just had to have a blue and found another kitten, funniest thing our female took right to him. They are hilarious together, she calls for him (usually at 3 AM) and he comes running, usually plows over her then she gets mad and chases him

Here are my two - both came from a nearby feral colony. The black one is a female and the tuxedo is male. I had the male a year before the female came into our lives. It took six months before the introductions were complete, but it was worth it.

Our Russian Blue (RIP). The crusty old cat made it to 20. The missing chunk from his ear came from picking a fight with a raccoon.

Congratulations! Beautiful cat. We've had numerous dogs and cats here and if it's an option, we've found crate training a great way to introduce them to everyone. We use a large metal dog crate and place it in our living room. Our most recent cat Mitzi spent a week in there this past September with a bed and a liter box. Dogs and cats walked by, sniffed and all that and after a week it was like she was always here. Once we let her have the run of the house we had zero attitude on the part of the other animals. Enjoy your new family member!

It’s funny. We’ve been dog people my whole life and in the last 3 years we’ve acquired 3 cats. I never knew how cute and loving these things can be!

As you can see he greatly appreciates sleeping on my leather couch with an unlimited supply of good food and toys vs living on the mean streets of Brooklyn.

My kitten was needing way more activity then my older cat could handle so the shelter recommended getting another kitten so they could match activity levels.
So I did that and after a week of slow introductions here they are. I might as well open up a petting zoo in my apartment. Lol

Beautiful. Both of my cats came from out feral colony when they were kittens. They are strictly indoors cats since I do not want them to get contaminated by the ferals (fleas, upper respiratory infection, worms, etc.) But the feral colony is actually as friendly as my indoors cats. Of course I feed them every day and make sure they have a space heater in my enclosed porch when it gets cold ... and they love being petted.

Sorry for your loss and good luck with the new kitten.

I lost my cat Felix a couple years ago (a feral cat who I had for 16 years). She made it to over 20! Once I was ready I adopted a brother and sister (Milo and Mira), they're great. Here's a couple pics including one of Milo about to take out a drone which I use to chase them around the house.

Scottish Fold. The dad Jackson is a straight-eared and his kids all turned out with the folded ears.
