Oh my gosh, nooooooo! I adored her in the 70s, even wrote her a letter and included a school picture in 4th grade. I received a photo back, but it got lost in one of my moves. Crushed! She was a heck of a fighter.
I saw her perform early 70s when she was a country artist. That was at our yearly rodeo at the state capitol. Think I still have some photos from my little Kodak X-15 Instamatic. She was just a tiny dot in the center of the photo but I snapped away from the nose bleed section anyway.
Wow. I admit that kind of knocks the wind out of me.
I knew she lived with cancer for so long; I began taking it for granted that she had beaten it.
From her online accounts: Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.
I just read it here on DFO and, naturally, did a Google search for more info. Very sad indeed. Grease has been on lately and, of course, we all loved seeing her at the end scene in that skin-tight black outfit! A very talented and beautiful lady. We'll certainly miss you, Olivia! RIP.
"Physical" kept my all-time favorite power-ballad, "Waiting For a Girl Like You", from the top spot on the charts, so I was mad at her for a while. Other than that, I ADORED her. Here she is on "The Tonight Show", back in '76.
