Hello all,

For sale here is a beautiful example of a 23" Formula 602 Pre-serial crash/ride cymbal. It weighs 2980 grams so I guess you could call it a MEDIUM? It functions perfectly as a 23" crash cymbal and has tons of wobble. Also useful as a medium-light weight ride perfect for jazz, accoustic, or soft rock. This one has loads of patina on it and is much darker sounding than any other 602 I've ever heard except for the ultra rare dark ride model. No issues at all, there is 1 tiny flea bite on the edge but it has no effect on the integrity or sound whatsoever. Ink logo 23" is in tact on the under bell (see photos). This is definitely one amazing piece of bronze, I just have too many pies and this one isn't as well suited for my playing style.

Did you buy this on eBay from Canada? I was watching one and was so bummed when I missed it. Now I’m bummed that I missed this one!

One and the same my friend. You can judge for yourself but for me this was basically a 23" crash. It's dark and beautiful as a crash, but too big for what I needed. It made an amazing 23" dark light ride, but that's not really my playing style.

If you ever get a chance to check out a 23" HEAVY, do so.

I have 2, and I sold my 22" 602 Transition Dark Ride (It WAS a cleaner-sounding one) because they simply did the same thing better.
Dang, yeah I would have loved if this one was a bit heavier. The 22" blue label heavy is my all-time favorite right now. I also have a 24" medium blue label which is awesome. What are the weights on your 23's if you know? No chance you'd consider parting with one?

I'm not sure if you spotted what I mentioned over on CH. I believe the two heavy weights come from the Captain himself.

I'd say that is most likely a MEDIUM model based on the few weights I've got with model ink left on:

23" THIN 2585g, 2735g
23" MEDIUM 3108g
23 HEAVY 3400g, 3475g

plus I've got one other 23" at 3200g which had no model ink left. The Paiste-Only-Wiki had averages of

23" THIN 2660g
23" MEDIUM 3108g

but those are likely be from my raw data rather than independent information. A few years back I passed all my raw data to Sean who put in the hard yards getting them all into the Wiki. That was before I came across the two HEAVY examples. I still haven't seen a 23" with MEDIUM RIDE ink on it.

Can you pass my info to the new owner in case he sells it? I’d really hate to lose it again. If you want to pass his info to me, I can politely reach out to him in case he wants to sell. I don’t want to be annoying, but man, it’s frustrating. :)

Nick, I probably shouldn’t tell you this since I’d love to be next in line on this one, but the new owner is showing this one off all over cymbalholic right now making guys like me jealous. Should be easy to find.
