I’ve had quite a few heavy brass Ludwig&Ludwig snares pass through my hands over the years. I’ve always wanted an 8 or 10 lug 6.5x14. It finally happened. This one is a two piece shell, which I prefer. It is nickel, despite looking chromish in the pic.

his is the most I’ve ever spent on a snare drum, even though I have some that are worth more. I didn’t try to bargain or anything. I just said I’ll take it. It’s fully apart now awaiting a spa weekend. I’ll get pics once it’s complete.

Nice find for sure.

As nice the results can be, I like the natural wear & tear look. I don’t think I would do much here other than assuring the tension rods tightened smoothly and the strainer moved properly.

For some reason it’s fine for guitars, but not drums in most people’s eyes.
