Picked up a couple of older Pearl toms, with badges marked "All Maple Shell".
Can anyone tell me what model they are, exactly, and how old? Thanks!

Looks like maybe a late 80s early 90s MX kit ... assuming that’s wrapped and not lacquered. If it’s a lacquer - MLX.

Someone with more Pearl knowledge should chime in and narrow this better.

I think you're right on the money. Those long lugs were prone to breaking, from what I have read on the Pearl forum.

I have a kit of these in Sequoia Red. I put a PS3 on the 14x22 kick and played it wide open with a black Pearl logo head. Sounds like a meteor hitting the earth.

Thanks, guys! They're transparent lacquer, so MLX then. I wish there was a full set, but there were just the two loose toms, a 13" (shown above) and a matching 10".

Now I'll be looking for a matching bass and floor tom, I guess. Or maybe I'll just flip them. Haven't made up my mind yet, but if anyone's interested, PM me.

MLX Sheer Blue. Were there originally mounts on the toms?

Still use my 1991 Pearl MLX which is in ideal sizes 8x10", 8x12", 14x14" and 14x20" in Honey Amber. Added Omni Mounts for the toms. Cut the 7/8" pipes down and purchased the Pearl covers that cover up the 7/8" holes. Sounds Great.....yes the lugs are not doing well....

Sheer Blue MLX drums. Yours are later in the series since they did not have the tom arm penetrating the shell.

The toms still have the 7/8" holes - Used Pearl GK-90 Tom Masking plates to cover those holes, shortened the pipes with a pipe cutter and installed Pearl Omni-mounts...... pearl gk90.jpg
