Didn't Gretsch make 6-ply shells in the mid 50's and Camco was in founded in 61'?
What I'm getting at is that companies take from each other. How does that make Pearl a cheap company or less of a good quality kit to own?
I'm not denying Camco are some of the best shells made along with Radiokings and WFL's but the hate Pearl gets is not justified.
They make it their own with influences from other companies, DW makes the best hardware I've used thus far, with exception of some Yamaha hardware.

Why do you care who hates whatever ??
If someone hates / doesn’t care for the brands I own . I don’t care ….

Name any company and there are things to complain about. Ludwig’s rail mount, Gretsch’s micro-sensitive throws etc.
Unnecessary, just don’t play them. Simple.

All assembly line drums will likely need a “ set-up “ IE; Edge work / squaring up .

Guitars accept this even with high end gear don’t they ??

I have to tell you nobody hating on Pearl at the Friendly Pearl FB group even cheap old Taiwanese Exports like mine get a ton of love. I like mine mainly because I found them curbside lol

We need a poll on that question.

A lot of pros have their edges recut even if they are endorsed before they hit the road. You’re comparing an entry-level kit to their high-end kits. Even Vinnie recut the edges on his cobalt blue Gretsch kit. Unless it’s a Keller shell,companies use rarer woods and better quality hardware and usually the lacquer will drive costs up.

I can see the saw-marks on my 14x7 52'-54' Radioking SS's innercut on the edges from the factory. Drumshell innovation and cutting has come quite a ways since then.

Now the discussion is centered more on the idea that all production edges are expected to not be good. Drums need their edges to get fixed.

This discussion happens after a bunch accuses me of not being able to tune drums. Hmm. I’ll continue to ignore that group.

I sanded and have better tuning. This is in line with the expectation that fixing is needed with production drums.

Pearl meets the drumming community standard.

They don’t custom cut at the factory… depending on the sound you want. Enjoy your Decade kit. I’m tapping out.

A little tribute to the Infamous well Lv’d and equally despised Pearl Mount.
Back in the early 80’s I needed a way to fly my 13 off my ride stand as I had incorporated a 13 and 14 timbale set up to the left of the bass. I shopped the local mom & pop low and behold there was the Pearl mount. The only mount they had. Drilled the Ludwig 13 and history was made!

All i can say on the subject is, I've played quite a few drum brands in my career. Owned Ludwig Fibes and DW (in that order. I keep kits) but played many sets belonging to others or backline etc.
I noticed at some point that I've never played a Pearl kit that didn't impress or at least please me. Just as another brand that shall remain nameless to avoid anyone's displeasure has displeased me on every encounter. It may be co-incidence of tuning, heads or general playability condition, but that is my personal feelings about Pearl.
