They are still using the pipe mounts on some kits, and if you noticed these L arms, use the lower portion of the pipe mounts.

Actually, I think the traditional Pearl tom mounts are good, but I know lots of folks don't like them. Just saw this on Facebook. Interesting... View attachment 623290
I like the Pearl tom mounts. I use them on my Yamaha and Pearl racks and attach my DW mounts to them. I just bought a set of Noble & Cooley’s new tom mounting system and those will attach to the Pearl tom mounts too. I also attach my iPad holder to them as well as my cowbell and tambourine holders.

This one I just don't understand. Pearl by far the best design, other then MAYBE Yamahas. Circle tubing just asks for stuff to slip. Nothing scarier then watching all your stuff slowly slip away.
I agree. I own Pearl, Gibraltor, and Yamaha racks. The Gibraltor is unusable. I got it for free thrown in with another purchase. Yamaha was difficult to set up and level but this year I figured it out finally out of necessity and now I really like it. The problem with the Pearl, still my favorite, is it is huge and bulky. It doesn’t fit on smaller stages. Thus the need to figure out my Yamaha rack which is killer on smaller stages. Now the Yamaha is my small stage rack and the Pearl rack is for larger stages where I need my full setup including more drums, SPDSX, double row chimes and trigger pads.

Agreed. I have a beautiful Gibraltar rack. But I replaced the horizontal bars with Pearl icons because they just work. No slipping.

Don’t over clamp it.

I never had any slippage with any round tube. Without and with memorylocks.

Pearls, are just too damrn ugly. My first rack.

Never again.

The pdp/dw rack is the best, most sturdiest, and sexiest rack out there imho. Especially when combined with the nifty items like the snare basket, and mic arms.

The Gibraltar has more custom design options, but the chroming isn’t that good (like some other DW chrome hardware) and the steel tubes dent quicker, I experienced over the last 20 years.

Circle will never be more sturdy then square. They were also the first I saw that really allowed for the stealth type look where they could go low. Have seen plenty powder coated black to blend into the stage more.

I also don't understand a rack for 3 cymbals, but that's a different discussion altogether.

I just told my experience with tube racks.

They for certain weren’t the first doing stealth side racks (just like they weren’t the first doing black racks either).

Also my current rack is still in design (the picture was taken in this phase), so you can’t even tell how many drums and cymbals are on it yet.

They are definitely function over form. My stainless rack holds everything nice and secure with memory locks, and it looks great doing it :)

I like the new L holder, looks interesting for little percussion added to a AX25 clamp, positioning in the exact position and faster.
