I remember seeing a couple of these on the old Pearl Drummers Forum a few times. If I recall, I think it may have been a limited Japan exclusive release?
I had a 6.5 maple Free Floater that I dropped an un-drilled Slingerland solid shell into for a little while. It sort of had the opposite effect and was incredibly dry and muted, so I didn't keep it that way for long, but I'd imagine this being purpose built with their own solid shell wouldn't suffer that. I've always liked these shallower FF snares, and if it's the same shell as the old Pearl Custom Classic solid, it probably sounds great.
I tracked down a catalog listing from 1996, but it may have been offered earlier as well. Looks like it was only offered for a short time in the 3.5" and 6.5" sizes.

I'll just testify that I LOVE the sound of the Cask 4.5 deep steam bent birdseye maple shell I have on a Pearl frame identical to the one at the top of this thread. (edit - oops, mine has diecast hoops)
