So I got my set of L80 cymbals - 14hh, 16, 18, and being the curious cymbalholic I am, tried some tape on them.
Interestingly, with these cymbals tape has almost the opposite effect than on regular cymbals: certain overtones grow stronger. You can make them sound more midrangey/trashy by putting just a little piece of masking tape on the bow, or enhance the bell/bridge overtones byputting some tape there. Still low volume, but fuller sounding. It migth be worth expereimenting with position, number of pieces etc.

I'm a bit worried since overall these cymbals are very thin, and supposedly fragile as well because of the many holes? I hope the don't suffer from this. I dont play hard, but they're so different I'm just not sure.

That's weird... Putting tape on loud cymbals to mute them and putting tape on soft cymbals to make them louder...
