I'm in the process of swapping the hardware from my Performer back to the Phonic. The ferromanganese metal bass hoops will be replaced with chrome wrapped maple to preserve the look and maybe change the sound for the better. I don't much care for the effect of metal hoops on bass drum tone, and they also didn't get back in round very well when the kit was shipped (tried everything).

Since I don't have the original hoops here, I don't know how wide they'd be. Does anyone have a Phonic kit with a 24" bass (22 is probably the same?)? How wide is the hoop? I'm going to get the maple hoops from Precision and have them wrapped in chrome. That looks best on this kit.

By the way, the shells will only take a new batter head very tight even before tensioning it down, to the point where it affects tuning negatively. I'm hoping the wood hoops will allow more give.

Looks a just hair over 1 and 3/4". Precision have that. Thanks, Frank.

I have old pics around but who knows where. When I get the kit back together I'll drop some new ones here.
