I’m going to say pre Niles the toms had no oval badges or vent holes. Not sure about Cloud badges. The Experts will be here soon

Toms had no badges until '64 or something like that. Bass drums and snares always had badges (except for '20s / '30s full dress drums which just had a grommet).

They didn’t start putting badges on toms until later 60’s.
That’s a cool kit and I would jump on it, but I love black drums and mahogany interiors!

Rich K. is on it. No badges on toms till June '66. The mahogany interiors of the pictured drums dates them to mid '63 or earlier. levelpebble is correct, the bass drum badge is missing.

Are you buying these?
20, 12, 14?
I’m agonizing over it. 5 hour round trip, plus it’s a re wrap that may or may not look good ?
I like the sizes a lot. If it was closer, I’d be on my way to view them ?

Have a '65 kit as indicated and no badge on tom and no vent. Floor tom has badge and vent as well as bass drum. Shells have maple interiors. Rail mount on bass drum. 20, 15, 12

Here's my 1965 Modern Solo 2R...with factory ordered COB bass drum hoops and snap-on pedal! Only the bass drum has a badge/air-vent grommet.
