Premier signia 75th anniversary kit

Ok How do the lug tubes Fit. The tubes must have come from a regular Signia as there were no 16" deep drums in this Anniversary series.
So where did "he" get the tubes? Or are they just the 18X22 tubes pushed to the edge. hmm lucky it worked..

At first I thought -could be a chance the distributor or factory slapped this together- for a customer.

What does the edge look like next to a tom edge? Plies, ply thickness anything, about the bass shell, look similar?

but you saying the black finish isn't nowhere near (...looks ok in pictures) in person.
I see there's a Signia FB Group you aren't going to lose a dime with them. How does the bass sound (forever bad?)

Is it good wood, what kind of wood and the rings are there, some type of rings.
Almost like it was a slapdash build for ...who in Ohio would do this? Lol

At first the ply layup looked the same.. but they had to use washers on the inside of the shell because the shell is too thin for the lugs
I don’t ave a proper micrometer but I itch a measuring tape the thickness looks similar until you see that on the bass drum most of those plys are just the re ring

Finish differences. Whoever clearcoated this didn’t even bother to westsand and buff

The other toms. Did you take a node post off and it's finished underneath..

It's like a Slap-up job put together. How did whomever get the Number plaque off (without bending) what's it made of?

To me it looks like someone glued these rings in themselves (unless Keller or whoever just kind of gets sloppy with the glue)
If it was a signia shell, wouldn’t it be sealed/lacquered on the inside?
I’m sitting here bewildered… looking at black stain ON the tom mount.. like he just used the drum at first as a bare shell.. and THEN had someone put black stain and clear on it !!

Well You know what to do next when ready. You ain't going to lose a dime on them. The other- 4 toms and the snare- are the for sure real deal- So..

I actually sort of want to refinish this the RIGHT way, and maybe make it more of a respectable “custom” drum.
The problem is, I have so many other projects on the bench

The plaque is held on with two wood screws

It’s funny. My black mist masters custom kit almost matches these premiers… and a few years back I had a spare black mist 22” shell which I sold. Hindsight

I wished I wasn’t right. At least not to that extend.

I can see why someone wanted a smaller kick, but the badges and ft brackets were a givesway it was a diy job. And it turns out not the best one either.

Still the parts of the kick (especially badges) toms and snare are worth enough for a good re-sell.

The same goes for Yamaha’s Black Maple (I think its actually a Yamaha heritage from when they owned Premier)

All (many) the stands were rebadged Yamaha models

That is what I said, Yamaha owned Premier between 1987 and 1992.

But they weren’t rebranded Yamaha items.

They had their own design (which was slightly different) to not have them be exactly the same.

Yes I have the Premier stuff- still in use- from a 97 XPK set- the cymbal stands-
My first Premier set was September of 71. Age 16. Owned it till 97. Traded it in on a 97 XPK anniversary) so I have some heart strings to Premier)

Yamaha (and especially its history) became my work for them for some good meyears.

Now im working on new old stock Premier items for a friends shop.

More than a large stake, they owned it outright from 1987 until 1992 when they sold the shares to the Premier management of the time, just as the Genistas and Signias were being introduced.

You have a lot to work with there so make a nice set out of it!!!
