Fantastic showman too.

I studied him intently for a whole year one month, watched all his video.
He's a legend.

Daniel Humair from what I read is right-handed and uses a lefty kit - except for the ride, which is on the hh side, so a kind of reverse Billy Cobham "open-handed" kit.

Though nowhere near the level of Craney and Humair , I'm a right handed person who has always played on a completely left handed kit . When I first started out many years ago, it seemed to be the only way I could get foot/hand independence happening .

So you're right-handed but left-footed my friend?..
some people forget - the feet- also have what turns some into excellent football field goal kickers!!

I'll be damned re: Craney. Such a great player.

Yep you know it's a thing when it showed up ten years ago.

There was some guy on Youtube showing non-drummers how to set up a kit to play on and suggested they play open-handed on a left hand kit. It nearly looked like a Rube Goldberg contraption, but made a lot of sense!

Billy Cobham is right handed, I believe. I know a couple of professional drummers here in Portland who are right handed, but play either Lenny White style, or full lefty.

I'm still seriously thinking about trying this. The hit hat setup cost is just turning me off.

Dude's kind of a nitwit. Either he doesn't know why people play normal right handed, or he's deliberately being dishonest about it.

this all seems insane. I play lefty kits, I'm lefty, and I tell left-handed folks to learn/play righty if they can.

Fortunately for the lefty drummers like me, we still have access to 99.99% of all drum kits made. In my previous life, I played lefty guitar and the selection isn't nearly as plentiful nor as versatile.

I set up a kit lefty style just for fun sometimes. No probs with the hands, and my left leg/foot is fine on the bd as I've played double bass drums on and off for ever, but my right foot is useless on the high hat. Go figure...

Max Weinberg became a temporary lefty courtesy of printing some photos reversed in the booklet for the box set LIVE 1975-85

Not just the drums in that pic either, the guitars appear lefty too.
