Robert Plant's wife is a far more talented musician than he is. I would paddle my canoe down the bayou to listen to jazz fest, caught several of his performances. Meh.

Yep! I saw them here in Richmond on the ‘18 and ‘19 summer tours (had been into him since the first record, but he never came to town on a weekend before then and I was traveling almost every week for work back then.) Amazing band and amazing shows.
Who is his wife ???

Good Doctor, Plant is not married, not since the 70's
He's a classy guy, not trying to rest on his laurels, playing either only old Zep tunes a new way, or playing some great Americana. He is quite a student of old American and world music.
I get teh feeling form this thread some musicians are stuck in the 70s, uncomfortable with change, and prefer to see an old goat belting out the Immigrant Song.

He tours with a country singer and a mostly roots and americana band. So of course anything he's gonna do out of Zep's catalog will veer closer to Rock's country and blues side of the familly tree. This ain't an arena rock outfit by any means, nor has it ever been advertised/marketted as such.
They've been at it on and off for. A good 20 years so if this type of content surprises anyone now, well it's on them...
That being said, even though I got tremendous respect for everybody in that band, if I want to see a band in the americana/roots genre, there are a bunch of bands I'd see BEFORE seeing a Plant/Krause show. JD McPherson is great in that clip, well I'd much rather see his show. In favt, he's been on my "must see" list for a while.
Plant has undoubtedly been one of the most iconic rock singers of his era. But, IMO, a LOT of it had to do with his looks, his stage personna and his complementarity with the 3 other Zep guys. Way more than his actual voice. I've never been a fan of Plant's voice. He sure was charismatic, had some fire and was dedicated. One doesn't front one of the biggest rock bands ever while being devoid of talent. But..
I find it hard to watch older singers doing their early stuff a few steps lower and still having to take "creative liberties" to navigate around the higher parts.
I'm primarily a vocalist and this takes me totally out of the music and conjures up the visceral fear every lead singer has of losing range as we grow old (I'm lucky I'm 47 and still haven't lost a lot of higher register compared to when I was 20, although now the lower extremity of my range sounds better than it did back then).
Maybe when I'm in my 70's I'll be glad if there are still some people paying to see me. Even if I try to disguise the fact that I can no longer hit the notes and sustain the hi-tempos under the "artistic maturity" umbrella.

Apologies. His partner (former?) Is/was Patty Griffin. Folk singer songwriter. She's about as good as it gets in her genre. I didn't grow up in the 70's. Zeppelin is great. The best members of the band are John Paul Jones and Bonham. Singers barely qualify as musicians and Jimmy page is fine. I don't think Robert Plant would be remarkable outside of being in Zeppelin. I can't name any of his solo work. He's a legacy act. Always had been. Nothing progressive or worth bothering to pay attention to.

Old rock stars are sad.Their permed wigs are sad. Wearing leather pants is sad when you nearly 80. Playing 40 year old songs is sad. That's entertainment, not music. I want to hear expression and art. Not a $100,00,000+ band raking in the cash and phoning it in. That isn't music. It's nostalgia banking on boomer money.

Well I can deduct by that statement, you have only played with mediocre singers.
I laugh whenever I see these type of comments.
So young musicians are supposed to play for love, not money. Go through all kinds of tough personal situations to stay full time in music. Then when they are 'old' they are supposed to lose all that passion and drive.
I'm pretty sure this Krause/Plant band are NOT $100,00,000+ and they don't sound to me anything like 'phoning it in'.
Acts like The Stones, McCartney and Rod Stewart - none of them ever need to work ever again. They obviously love playing live, they obviously love playing music.
I wouldn't pay money to see them myself, but I think it's a nonsense for internet pundits to demand they stop doing what they love.
90% of this forum membership would struggle to play it with this precision and energy.

Jimmy Page took old blues riffs and structures , fed them through Marshalls and effects , twisted the knobs to eleven and came up with an impressive Zeppelin catalogue . Plant has reversed this , approaching the spirit of their original dynamic texture . His performance is smarter , not harder .

They are coming this year to a TINY amphitheater usually used for seniors in my area. Not sure what to think, maybe it will be a huge win to see him more intimately? dunno

It might not be your cuppa, but it's just a different spin on a song, it ain't brain surgery. Robt Plant and Alison Krauss is a magical combination. This take on this song isn't one of my favorites of theirs, but it's all good. If you didn't like this, you probably didn't like Robt & Patti Griffin cover of 'Black Dog'. The drummer is a badass, I gotta say.
