I’m about to put up a set of Swivomatic hardware for sale (hi hat stand w/ clutch, 2 cymbal stands, & snare stand) and I want to make sure I have it correct.

How many set screws hold the cymbal tilter? How about a tom holder?

Thanks!

Thanks! Make sense, each hole gets a set screw.
Not quite.

Each mount only needs 2 screws, though some tom mounts have 4 holes. This is to allow a convenient location of 2 adjacent screws from the drummer viewpoint. The 2 screws push the ball of the tom or cymbal mount against the other side of the mount for maximum surface contact to hold the tilter / arm in place. Using 4 screws means the holding is done on the smaller surface of 4 end points of the screws, resulting in damage to the ball on the arm

amosguy knows exactly how this works! I'm just amazed when I see the 60's Swivo arms, where the owner installs all 4 set screws, thinking that they are required.
