EDIT: post-cleanup photos on page 3

Leaving soon to possibly buy a Big R 5pc set in piano black. Seller says "1976"
3 hours away from me.

Memriloc XP-8, Natural interiors, 12, 13,14, 16 FT, 22" w/chrome snare + bags.
Seller is asking 250, seems like a no-brainer, right?
What are your thoughts on this era of Rogers drums, please?

Ballpark appraisals welcome! Thanks gang!

Can't see it and I'm not an expert on Rogers but I do recall that the early imported Rogers (from shortly after the original company went under) from Island Music (I think) looked a lot like their Memri-Loc ancestors and Black was one of the common colors.

$250 for a USA made Rogers set is definitely a no-brainer but $250 for an Island Music import set might be about top dollar. Check for the "USA" notation on the badges. I only post this caveat because $250 seems too good to be true...but I hope for your sake that they are American made from 1976 as that would be a sweet deal.

Thanks KO & Mongrel!
Here's the pics, no USA that I can make out.
You may have saved me a trip to Oklahoma city!

The snare is import. The other drums look like they are USA. The import badge has black edges. Rogers USA drums have chrome edges on the badge. If so, and they all have clean interiors, they would be XP8 model. The import floor toms usually have different leg mounts, and different bd spurs. USA badge would be a no brainer at $250.

seller just said the snare is an import added later, but all the black drums have Rogers USA badges.

Sooo, am I driving to Oklahoma City?
Please advise!

They look like 80-81 XP-8's but something is not right about that BD. The tom mount should be centered front to back, it looks to be installed towards the player side. Also it doesn't look like it's centered between two lugs. Maybe it's just the way it's sitting in the photo, but it struck me as odd right away. Still worth more than $250 just in parts.

Those are XP8s and a garage sale price. Awesome deal! If the Big R stickers had been reglued, you could tell. Those are 8 ply rock maple shells. No re-rings needed. Ace

Using all 3 toms on the bass drum is a little weird. You might leave out the 14" like I do. My set has a 24" bass though. With the 22" you will have more options. Ace

Seller is a good friend of mine , he was told they were 1976 when he got them . I had just assumed they were BIG Rs ...
He knows nothing about vintage drums ,he is a good guy regardless . I would have bought them had I not scored a big lot
of Script Era Rogers not long after he got these .

At that price, buy them and ship them to me (I pay) and I will still resell them for a profit....................

Hey evensteven, great score...

Makes me very happey to see someone get those deals who really appreciates them. Sad to think what would happen to that kit in the hands of someone without a clue...

Congrats!
