RIMS and 3/8"-16 bolts from McMaster Carr. Done!

I've even got the part numbers listed here:
Ha! I never thought of using RIMS! Time to put together a U.K. tribute band! :)

I love his hacks, appreciate his droll humor, and really couldn’t care less that he gets free stuff. He’s giving some pretty honest reviews, free stuff or not.
Agreed. I always get excited when rdavidr's uploads a new video. I find the cat highly likable and entertaining. Plus he's got some really good fabrication skills.

Kinda bummed that some are slagging on him. Now MEYTAL is a different story

I enjoy the guy, and also get some of the criticisms. Some of his videos I just blow by. This was a fun watch, and as far as the sponsored free stuff, more power to him. My wish would be for him to donate at least some of that stuff to local teaching institutions, etc, and hopefully inspire others to give, in the process. Same goes for all of you hoarders. There's nothing like going to a local concert and seeing some happy kid playing a nice set that used to be yours. But it's your stuff, and if you choose to be a collector, that's ok, too.

12 Step Program for Drum Hoarders:

1) Look at pictures of drum
2) Think about buying drums
3) Look at drums you already own
4) Think about buying drums
5) Look at drums on ebay
6) Think about buying drums
7) Look at drums on Reverb
8) Think about buying drums
9) Look at Drum Manufacturer web sites
10) Think about buying drums
11) Tell yourself "I already have enough drums"
12) I CAN'T TAKE IT! Time to buy more drums................

If the equipment is a form of compensation he shouldn't give it away.
I don't understand your statement. It is a form of compensation because the businesses that send him the items to review aren't requiring him to send it back. What he does with it is his choice. He can give it away if he likes, keep it, or sell it.

My thing is just some of the post come off as "reviews" which are biased as all can be when they are getting all the stuff for free. The whole "you don't appreciate things that you didn't pay for" very well may be true in these instances.

He used to do $30 dollar drum set hacks or whatever. Now it's "I don't like the tension rods on my free $4,000 drum set that I'm not going to play after this 7 minute video".
Give it to someone else who will appreciate the things if you don't like them. Or send it back to the vendor.
Sweetwater gives this guy stuff trying to sell it as the everyman, but most drummers don't have 20+ drum sets they haven't played in 6 months.

He's gotten a ton better as a drummer over the years and props to him there.
Someone a while back posted his reviews are a bit moot because he's running everything through $10k of free sound gear from Sweetwater to do the same tuning across 35 drum sets. I don't think it's that far off...

I don't really know the point of this video. He doesn't really review the drums or change tunings. He chops tubes down because they couldn't be made into bass drums or snare drums easily. Which, they were never meant to.

His buddy plays the drums half the time, and then he spends 15 seconds at the end telling the viewers how to buy them.
I can't be the only one thinking this is weird. How that's worth the tradeoff when music stores are struggling in general is beyond me.

The Thomas Lang video really sells the Roto Toms 10x more in a video where he talks about 7 and 9 stroke rolls.
Are you completely new to social media, or just clueless about how it works? Being bitter because he’s successful and you’re not is typical “he’s not like he used to be” whining. Make your own channel and make it successful and entertaining and you can get all the free stuff you want. He’s made a career out of drums, we should all be happy for him instead of complaining about him.
I think he’s awesome, and I’m proud of what he’s done.

Some of y'all that say I took too much time to comment are sure getting aggressive over my comments.
People are bitching about the Grammy's in the other main thread right now. All of them are also just having fun just like this fella probably is in his silly video; Who are we to crap on the Grammy's in the process? Or is that not what we do....

Since I did it to a drummer YouTube, it's apparently off-limits. Got it.

People get mad about companies & bands "selling out" all the time. Metallica's new single thread versus Kill em All.
DW Keller Shells versus the new shells.
Jasper versus Keller Gretsch.
The Grammy's.
Every single year there's a thread about award shows and the general comments are EXACTLY the same.

I make a comment that I think a YouTube channel is becoming disingenuous since he just makes a 10 minute video of something and then throws it in a corner. Then we all lose our minds about how I'm jealous and wish I was a YouTuber.
By that standard, we are all jealous we can't look like a potato at the Grammy's like Beyonce or have as many awards as her.

His Roto Tom video, did not expand on how roto toms work, show different tunings, the history, the spokes that are used as cymbals, or even famous drummers that have used them. The things that make Roto Toms unique.

My point, for the 100th and last time I care to comment in this stupid thread, is that he did not do a great job, IN MY OPINION, on selling these things.

I'm good on this thread, but will laugh when in 30 minutes someone complains or critiques something else in a different thread and everyone acts like that is fine.
