I stopped caring about emotional attatchement to gear.

Especially after losing my parents over these last two years.

We all die, and then it gets to be a burden for the next generation.

If I enjoy it, I enjoy it (my cymbal selection mostly) If not. Off it goes.

On topic

If I think about it, maybe most of my gear has sentimental value.
For example: There is no 'selling price' for the cymbals which were made for me at Istanbul factory and that I played for 30 years. They will just stay with me, even when I use more and more others now.

Other example: I bought the old snare from a drummer friend. Not expensive, not in good shape (as discussed somewhere else here). Even if somebody would give me twice what I paid, I will keep it. And after some 'light restauration' (heads, snares, maybe bearing edges) I'll play it one day when my I know that my friend is in the audience.

But Wes is right, if somebody else doesn't have the feelings I have for this gear, it's just a burden.
