you don't (as a Cymbalsmith) ever capture the sound from the recording

Old Ks are like that
They sound in person Different than How they Record; It's one of the Great Mysteries (Page 289 in the CymbalHolic Workbook under : K Mysteries section 204....
that's why they are Unrepeatable and- just be fine- with that

Of course. And no one else will ever be Tony. That said, it’s Lasses interpretation of that sound and it’s a pretty fun cymbal!

you'd be "closer" to Old K "Miles/Tony" with an..... any old K that doesn't sound like Tony's Dig?
It's Complex....: D

````````````
It's closer "To be" an Old K than it is ...to be an outside copy of "that" old K. DIG? : D
`````````````````
If you're an actual "any" old K you're closer than any from anyone's repo;
Else, you drive yourself cuckooo
that's my_____ and I'm staying with it

I must have missed this thread originally, and it makes me really miss the good ol' Cymbalholic days! Here some Swiss beauty. Masters Dark, Dark Energy Light Dark, Trad's, Modern Essentials, SCDR's, SCDChina, SCDCrash. Giant Beats, Old 602's, Paperthin Blue 602's, 602 Thin Flats, New 602's, Super's, even a Dimensions, and one little 2002.

More info here.

After looking through this entire thread, damn y'all have some great stuff!

May I ask what the weight and size of your paperthin Blue 602's are?

My 16" PT Blue 602 I don't have a weight for.
My 22" PT Blue 602 is a PERFECT 2441 grams, not "paper thin" by anyone's standard except Paiste, but it's a perfect cymbal. I have installed 2 rivets.

It is from the same batch as Billy Higgins' Paperthin 22' 602 (which was also perfect,) which I heard repeatedly from 3 feet away at Bradley's and the Vanguard.

14” brass hihat top. Used Wrights copper cream to take the coating off. Roughed it up with a wire brush attachment on a drill. 1st patina was vinegar rinse and fumes in a trash bag for a couple days (turned it brown). Second patina was a MiracleGro slurry in a trash bag for a couple days (turned it blue). Then I rough sanded it a bit to show both patinas and the raw brass.

14” JMV Bronzeworks hats
18” JMV crash
24” KCDCR
14” Saluda that was sitting in the studio
20/22” JMV rides stacked, mostly just used the 20 as a crash

12/15/20 RFM. These drums rip, and could hang in very loud situations.

These cymbals certainly are beautiful, but I keep coming back to this thread looking for the scantily clad ladies posing with cymbals.

It's all Paiste Signature. Foolishly I sold the 602 China years ago. While in Switzerland I made a pilgrimage to Paiste in Notwil, Switzerland but they were closed.
