Not mine, but a guy in my neck of the woods has a 1983 Big Beat kit in WMP, looking at the pictures you wouldn't know it's a 28 year old kit!

Circa '71 3 ply 26-14-16-18, original Gold Sparkle. Set up with all old K's - 24" New Stamp, 20" Old Stamp, 18" Old Stamp, 15" New Stamp hats. '85 Keplinger Stainless Steel snare. Possibly the most fun set I've ever played on!

Thanks,
Bill

I am going by what the owner listed them as, I believe the Big Beats replaced the Hollywoods in the early 70's. I was almost wanting to call them Hollywoods myself.

When Ludwig featured both the "Hollywood" and "Big Beat" sets in their catalogs, they were the same drum sizes, just packaged with different hardware.

I'll add another later ......70's 3 ply clear interior with a matching Jazz Festival. 24,16, 13, 12 and 5X14" JF. Wrong era bass drum logo but thats what the set came with.....The SB set is 1971, 22" 13" 16"....love this wrap, just beautiful.

Sorry to show a crappy photo in a thread meant to show beautiful drums, but here is a crappy photo (only one I have currently) of my cocktail kit, a 1957 WFL Symphonic Super Classic 6.5x14 snare, and a 1960 transition badge 16x24, both in lovely WMP. It was originally fitted with Swiv-O-Matic hardware (how else are you gonna hang a 6.5x14 drum?), and came to me with four original calfskin heads. Not one speck of pitting or rust to be found anywhere. Played this at the Patsy Cline Fan Club annual meeting in Winchester, VA last year. Might have a photo of that somewhere... Pretty embarrassing considering I'm a photographer.
