My first drum set...a 4pc Lyra in gold sparkle! Yes, that's me. No laughing please!!!!

I got the kit in 1967. I believe this picture is from 1968, as I installed a Ludwig rail consolette, the style that just came out with the geared tilter. The original tom holder was then used for a cowbell holder. I also had two new Ludwig 1400 cymbal stands and a 1123-1 hi hat. I loved that kit!!

I guess I should post a pic of my first real drums.
"Dixie" If I'm not mistaken, I believe this was a Japanese stencil kit by Pearl. The shop keeper actually threw in a pair of Zildjian new beats because the hats on the kit were warped. I kept them for 2 years until I saved enough money to buy top quality.

Those look nice. Not familiar with the Lyra name. Were they American? Japanese?

White CB 700 kit 12/13/16/20 & a Tama 6.5" metal snare my mom bought at a Christian book store used for $150.00 in the mid 80's. I also got a set of 14" hats and an 18" crash ride - but sorry, no photos!

First "real" drum set: Gretsch COW, purchased new by Mom in 1974... I still have the receipt somewhere (Mason Music, $400+change). 8x12/10x14/16x16/16x18/14x22. This pic is from 1977. Please excuse the hair and the knee high boots. It was the '70s.

Did the same thing on my brother’s motorcycle. Broke my right leg just above the ankle. Fortunately the cast went up to but not over the knee so I was still able to play the bass drum to a degree.
