Nope, bought used. Color is stated as purple and Im not familiar with their color names, so I really cant say. By the way, JM is not currently taking orders due to backlog.Beautiful!
Did you special order it from JM directly?
What’s this color called, looks like a purplish version of their classic Bleen blue.
Love the finish on that Ming. Never heard or played Tempus but they have a great rep.Two Tempus 5x13. Sold the yellow one though since they're so similar. Love the orange drum.

A Ming CF - sold it. Never liked thin shelled CF drums, including Tempus ones. Only FG for me.

Ming, Tempus, and a Frost Fibes! (ok not only fg)

I think I've owned two other Tempus. A gorgeous 3.5 x 12 that had some problems with the lugs being too large. I returned it to Paul and he replaced with the Orange Sparkle one. And a 6 1/2 CF snare that I just didn't dig compared to FG.
I have to say I hated the Ming and couldn't really dial it in. Those CF shells are really thin and also have very thin bearing edges. I did like the look though!Love the finish on that Ming. Never heard or played Tempus but they have a great rep.
I'm not talking about the carbon fiber shell, but the fiberglass. The CF is definitely a different sound than the fiberglass and I don't care for it either. The Pure sounds dialed in and eq'd in a good way to me. There must be an equation for good sound from a snare that I'm not aware of. What snare only sounds 1.5 or 4x better than a Pure, and to whose ears? lolI have to say I hated the Ming and couldn't really dial it in. The Fibes and Tempus snares are a lot thicker, like wood, and not very flexible. And they sound 10 times better.
Its pretty simple I think - it's the thinness and lack of rigidity. That Ming or a Tempus CF I owned for a short bit were thinner than 1/8" and have no rerings or reinforcements. That's why you an see the sun through it - it's really really thin! CF is strong of course but its also expensive.I'm not talking about the carbon fiber shell, but the fiberglass. Dunno about all this. I have a Tempus c/f 6x14 snare that sounds good to me. I will say that the c/f drum sets that I've had (Tempus, Ming) do tend to sound brighter, but that's not the case with my particular snare drum. Its pretty simple I think - it's the thinness and lack of rigidity. If you hammer your hand on the shell w heads off they're very vibrant. And at an oddly low fundamental note. And you can easily flex the shell sideways. The FG drums are way more rigid and stout. And some of the fibes have rerings or folded over edges making them more so.
Maybe some snares that are super thin and also resonant are very musical, but for me not the carbon fiber ones. Acrolights are a different story but they have the foldover and beads to make them more rigid.
The first Fibes snare I ever played was in a shared studio and was somewhat abused, filthy heads, unevenly tuned by whoever was in there, and on some days cranked up so tight you barely loosen the lugs. And yet it still sounded amazing! To me that right there is the magic and why I own a couple of them.
I love that purple color in your JM.What the heck, throwing it all out there: "other materials"
Plastic Arbiter Flats, Carbon Fiber Pi DW Snare (thanks @Breakdown7 ), the famous "concrete" soapstone DW snare
(thanks @sw532121 ), clear acrylic Pig Lite, purple fiberglass Jenkins-Martin, and a Ferromanganese Steel Sonor (thanks @michiganice91 ).

I'm liking it! Got its own sort of "processed" timbre. Got an surprising amount of body for a piccolo.I love that purple color in your JM.
I gave a cool greyish one and a Bleen blue and yellow JM on the way, I just love those snares!
I also have a Canopus CF on the way.
How do you like your DW pi?
Wow, that’s quite an “alternate” shell collection, I’m impressed!Latest (and last) "alternate material" arrival, Pearl President Series Phenolic 14x5.5:
