Gentlemen, would you please tone it down just a smidge? Some of us are trying hard not to go bankrupt from Stage IV GAS. :icon_lol:And here you all are, merilly flaunting your masterfully crafted solid drums in all manners of fancy timbers and other ligneous exotica. That is wildly inconsiderate, shame on all of you!!

In all seriousness though, Gary's work seem to be second to none. If not none then, certainly not a lot... ;-)

Congrats to all owners/customers. Hope the view is cool from the Summit :thumbright:

Honestly......and I have damn good ears,
I dont notice ANY difference at all. The drum is way sensitive to the edge, has terrific "bark" and its the only piece of Black Galaxy I could find worldwide. It is Delmar N O S.
And it looks stunning!
Another win for Gary Posey and Summitt.

This is great to hear. Conventional wisdom says that wrap dampens a shell, so I’m sure someone could disagree with you, but glad to hear the good report.

You probably won’t want to pay attention to the things I have coming, then…

A couple weeks ago I received a 5.5x14 Walnut snare from Gary. I pulled all the hardware off of a Pearl Sensitone that I wasn't using much and sent it to him. This is the 3rd drum that I've bought from Gary and like usual, the whole build process was smooth and easy. I'm very happy with how it turned out. The snare sounds awesome and has a big tuning range despite its size. It's exactly what I was looking for and the build quality is excellent. Enough good things can't be said about Gary/Summit, he's super easy to work with and the end product is fantastic. Currently thinking about what my 4th purchase will be...

Love my mahogany kit played it at my reunion last week. Here’s a clip from the drum cam. Audio is from camera, so they sound thuddy but believe you me, they are anything but…resonant and full. Just beautiful! Thank you Gary!

Gary just sent me a message with photos of my new toy!

It is shipping on Monday.

I'm pretty freakin' excited!

:D

Update: I just checked tracking, it is loaded on the delivery vehicle, scheduled to arrive today! (Not that I'm excited or anything.)

It's here!

It arrived on Tuesday, but I've been having issues with my hearing, my doctor has me temporarily avoiding excessive volume. Last night I did take it down to my rehearsal room and got it it tuned and dialed in to my taste. It is wonderful.

I'm looking forward to taking it to a rehearsal and putting it fully through its paces, but that will have to wait at least another week.

Until then I can just stare at its beauty. :)

It's a stunner.

Thank you to Jeremy for letting me try the "tour snare" back in December, it caused at least one sale. (So far.)
I'm thinking that a snare with the same exact specifications in mahogany would be interesting...

Thank you to the rest of you forum-ites for showing off your Summit toys and pushing me over the edge.

Lastly, thank you Gary! This drum is everything that I hoped that it would be. I love it.

Update!

I've used this snare twice at rehearsal and...

WOW.

I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting, but it is even better than I had hoped. It is very similar to the "tour snare" that Jeremy (Lossforgain) so graciously let many of us try last year. I've always liked Slingerland style stick saver hoops. I thought that using those along with lightweight hardware would be a great combination, that they would really allow the shell to "speak". I was not disappointed.

I'm finishing getting caught up on snare cases, then I want Gary to duplicate this drum, but in mahogany. I hope to be able to order it by the end of summer.

This snare is wonderful.

I think Gary’s work is getting better all the time and it was already fantastic. Here is a special drum he did for me, 6.5x14 Curly Sassafras with maple rings, nickel hardware, and a semi-gloss finish. This one is never leaving my collection, hoping to give it a first gig on the 28th.
