Please excuse me, all you Slingerland experts, but I would like your help. When, exactly, are the chocolate milk interior years? And could you please post some pics of how it could or should look? Is there a range of colorations? Many thanks from "Not Really a Slingerland Guy."

A Slingy QC sleuth was instructed to infiltrate the Gretsch plant in 1966 seeking their secret formula....indeed, he found Gretsch was using silver fence paint, thus Slingy introduced tan fence paint, aka chocolate milk.

heard a similar story; a Slingy Sleuth snuck in looking; mistook a lunchtime Choc milk 99c single sitting half empty uncapped and assumed well assumed too much.

Actually it was meant to be coffee colored but they added too much milk. At least that's what Mad Drummer magazine says .......

So, if DW brings back Slingerland, will they update them with chocolate Almond milk interiors? They are made in California after all ... lots of almonds out there.
Was Chocolate milk interior used to protect the wood (finish balance the outer and inner of the wood shell)

DW is re-introducing the Slingerland line of drums later this year. The shell construction will be from wood salvaged from the deck of the Edmund Fitzgerald at the bottom of Lake Superior, and will be single ply with re-rings. Interior finish is TBD, however sources report that Mr. Good of DW has recently purchased significant acreage in an almond farm adjacent to DW's facilities. Thus considerable speculation exists that "almond chocolate milk" interiors are on the horizon.
