12 x 22 is a nice sounding size (Ludwigs are anyway...I would imagine a Slingerland would be similar in sound). If the drum is a '62 then the tom holder plate is a later addition and it looks like they had to remove the badge to put it on. Cool finish, too bad it's damaged. As far as the fiberglass repair all I can think of is that the shell (or the inner ply) must have been cracked in that area so someone added a layer of fiberglass to reinforce it. If so it probably did the trick...although it might have a slight effect on the sound of the drum (probably nothing too noticeable).

Price seems okay although you'll need to track down a hoop, T's, and claws, which could add up.

Oh Gawd, too many mods for me. Not one but two previous tom mounts with all their holes, Ludwig cymbal arm mount, that fiberglass stuff, missing wrap around a spur and no front hoop or claws. Unless you have some kind of deadline for putting a black sparkle kit together, I'd wait for a better drum.
