Have asked this on FB Bell Bronze page but hoping someone here can shed some light:

I’m sure this is asked a lot but how do I determine what snare beds are right for me on a 3mm BB build?
Most people I ask are quite vague when explaining what beds their snares use. “Fairly wide” could mean a lot of things.
I’d like to be able to use 30 strand wires, I mainly hit very hard, heavy sticks, thick heads, lower-medium tuning. I don’t crank my wires tight.
Despite playing for years my understanding of what the trade offs are in a shallow/deep/wide/narrow etc bed is pretty basic. I get that it needs to be wider than the wires.
So really what I’m trying to better understand is what each bed style will do better/worse than others.
This way I can better advise a builder what I’m after.
Thanks.

Following for interest.

My guess, would be the wider the wires= the wider the snare bed. and shallow.

I would do a snare bed about 8 inches wide and approx 3/32 deep. People have their special sauce snare bed formulas, but they really aren't all that complicated and for the most part they are over-thought.
