1970 Ludwig

Classic Ludwig Bowling Ball Blue Hollywood drum set born in the fall of 1970. This has all the warmth, mojo from the late 60's to 70's - it sounds amazing with the projection of maple and warmth of poplar! You really need this! Minor wear and aging you expect from 50 year old drums. Finish is solid and shiny, very minor seam lifting. More photos on request.

$1,650 + $300 estimated shipping continental US only.

Local Pick-up Preferred - Pacific Northwest (WA)

Listed locally and on Reverb as of Jan 31st

(Would consider shipping in continental US only - $300 is only an estimate)

Here are the details:
1970 Ludwig Hollywood 3-ply Shells w/ clear interiors and stamps:
* 8"x12" - Tom (B/O badge # 815075, Black stamp date: OCT 30 1970) Minor checking

Maple/Poplar/Maple 3-ply formula - implemented in 1968, and according to Ludwig, it was “to compliment settings demanding greater volume and projection”. Cool tubs!

A nice patch from a donor scrap would probably help out that 18". Little project for whomever snaps these up, and somebody should!

Wow....those are just beautiful....from the golden days of Chicago drum manufacturing, and the very finish that first inspired my interest in the drums around 1974. And as mentioned, that IS great price.

Nice! I have a 12,14,20, snare. It had a 16 that was not original to the kit and the wrap was obviously from a slightly different version(earlier), I sold it. The snare is also a different version, (newer). I believe there are at 3 to 4 different versions of bowling ball blue. Good luck.

Thanks all...how do we bump this one up?
And you bumped it up by asking how...and now I've bumped it up by writing this. Worthy drums worth bumpin'. Mikefryed needs to buy 'em to get with his 20/12/14, which are probably pretty rare to begin with.

This set found a new owner who was excited to replace the same set they sold years ago. Happy ending.
