************** SOLD ********************

Recently, I was looking for a new light weight kit to replace my little Gretsch Catalina's (which had an 18" kick) as I wanted to step up to a preferred 20" kick drum. I looked at literally dozens of different kits for months and made offers on a many of them before I worked out a deal with Steve Maxwell for this Japanese made TAMA birch kit i n the Chicago store. It's a circa 2006 model Starclassic Performer EFX kit in the great looking factory option Black Gold Glitter glass wrap. The kit was originally catalog model SRG40S and came with a 8X10", 9X12" 14X14" and 18"X20" but I cut the kick down to my preferred 14"X20" size. The bearing edge is very good though it's a little uneven on the glass glitter cut back (see photos) but it's never seen anyway. All the edges are super clean and each drum has BRAND NEW heads, the kit has never been tuned! This will come with Remo coated Emperors over Coated Ambassadors for all the toms and an Aquarian Super Kick II on the kick batter and a Felt Tone Fiberskyn on the reso. Again, brand new heads set up to play a wide range of music.

The build quality is outstanding and the chrome hardware is impressive but the kit is just not what I was looking for (I bought this without seeing it in person). Overall, It's just a little heavier than I was looking for as far as a small kit to play local casuals around town. This was just my lack of experience with TAMA in general and certainty NOT the kits fault, again, it's a top quality Japanese build in every way! . It's a great set, but it just did not connect to me on an emotional level. Goofy right? But I have no regrets as the set needed to be loved back into shape and I was pleased to do that for the next owner!

The kit has the expected rubs, nicks and bumps for a kit that is almost 15 years old, but she still really shines. There is rash in two places on the 12" where it had rubbed on a snare drum and the kick has a crack at the wrap on bottom where it crossed back over its own seem (again not noticeable up top but see pics). There are a few scratches on the bottom of the kick as well, but I don’t recall seeing really anything on the 10" rack and the floor tom. The hardware is in really nice shape and polished up nicely though there are some rough spots on the kick claws where people placed it on the floor. I replaced every single missing nut, bolt and part with new genuine Tama parts including all the memory locks (that was $80.00 alone). The kit will come with a new Gibraltar single tom holder as well as a new Tama double tom holder when using both toms.

Not only will you get the 4 drums, all new heads and two different new tom holders... you will ALSO get (I almost said, "But WAITE, Theirs more"!) a full set of Humes & Berg Drum Seekers heavy padded and lined bags included along with FREE Shipping n the lower 48 states! And ALL THIS CAN BE YOURS FOR JUST $950.00 DELIVERED!!!

PRICE DROP!! $900 delivered WITH the cases... if I keep the cases I will go $800 delivered.

WHEW! I'm exhausted just getting all that out! This kit really shines with a rich root beer glow and will be an amazing kit for someone as it's fully detailed and ready to gig this weekend! Yes, it has a few bumps and bruises but I priced it with that in mind, and this think is solid as a rock! This is a LOT of Japanese solid birch Tama goodness for the price.

As for offers, sure go ahead and talk to me, I will listen to about anything. I AM willing to drive around the south to meet you in you in the Atlanta, Birmingham, Knoxville, Chattanooga or Nashville areas. As for trades, I am looking for a new Tama Starphonic Copper snare, or maybe a few nice larger diameter thin Bosphorus or K Constantinople cymbals.

Sorry for the all brown practice room photos, I could not get the weather to cooperate with a nice outdoor photo opportunity! Thanks for the look!

The rest of the pics with close up's of the warts.... I had to lighten the tom rash photos to get them to stand out, they are hard to see at first glance. And they are on the back side of the tom. If you are running it as a 5 pieces set, you would just spin the drum around the mount it still keeping the rash towards you. It's not big spots, but I dont want to be misleading and not accurately point them out.

Wow... you cut one base drum down and no one loves you any more! LOL!

My 10 days bump with a price reduction to $900 delivered WITH the cases... if I keep the cases I will go $800 delivered. I cant go to low as the shipping cost will be pretty decent.

Open to partial trades for a set of Bosphorus 15" hi hats or a 22" ride... or a Tama Starphonic Copper snare.

Thanks for the look,
Ward
