If I was in a better position financially, I’d grab these from you locally.
I hear ya, they are truly great hand crafted maple drums, at this price you can’t get any other 4-piece hand made maple kit that wasn’t made in China and you see everywhere, these are very unique.
So far I have listed them on CL, offer up, and Let go. Once I put these on Reverb it will go, the shipping cost might turn some people off though.

Can someone describe why these are unique?
We’re the shells special ?
I have always heard about the kudos, but not sure why.
For example would they compare to high level GMS drums made in NY ?

So you bought these from Randy Jones? I'm in Glendale BTW but can't buy another bop kit.

I think any well made custom drum is unique. These are special in NY mostly, not a lot of people know about them elsewhere. Shells are keller maple 6ply, bearing edges done by Joe Cusatis who cared about how his drums sounded. I haven’t played GMS kits but pretty sure they are as good as these, if not better. They are better known throughout the country though.

Let me check my post!
Hmmm no I don’t think I said that, he had his own MDS kit with a 20” bass which he played at that concert (Link in craigslist post).
no worries, hope you are enjoying your bop kits.

I believe the company is, in part, famous for producing some of the finer nesting kits.

Yup that too, I forgot to mention that. MDS nesting kits are desirable. I see number of nesting kits being offered for sale for a long time but once an MDS nesting kit pops up for sale it’s gone very fast (smaller sizes, 18” bass)

Drummers world nesting kits are also known for that.

I used to see Joe making these in his shop(s) in NYC. Towards the end he moved a couple of times. It was a pretty low tech operation. I think he got the shells with edges on them already or did them by hand with sandpaper. The finishes were applied with foam paint brushes. They always seem to sound great. Some NYC places had them as house sets, thought never the places I played.

Great to hear people chime in about Joe's shop it was something special.
And yes his nesting drums were the best.
I'll be sad to see my bass drum go. Whoever buys it will not be disappointed.
Thank you for letting me chime in.
I owned many Modern Drum Shop drums and nesting drums.
Daniel Jodocy did amazing work every time.
Cheers

Sweet looking nesting bass drum, killer for jazz and funk. However, you may want to start your own sale thread as it might not get enough attention and hits here.
