I gigged with a Sonor Hilite for several years in the mid-late 90s. My kit had a 20" bass drum, 10" & 12" toms with a 14" floor tom. Really great drums with a beautiful low sustaining note. This is a nice deal for someone wanting a great Sonor drumset.

They definitely do have a nice low end. I have a running theory that the Italian maple, which is inherently softer than N. American rock maple, produces an especially noticeable and pleasant bottom end tone.

Calling Steve Smith...

I'd like to hear him work out on these (in non-Journey mode. Fan of his drumming but not the band).

That's a great deal. Sets like that in that finish in that condition don't exactly grow on trees.!

He played a Red Maple Hilite Exclusive on the Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship Concert in the late 80's. I'd start there...

I,ve owned a couple of kits and those bass drums are unreal. No muffling or holes, and watch out!!. Your sound man will need to adjust the board a tad!

Wayne that Hilite exclusive you owned with the copper hardware was fabulous ! One of the most beautiful looking and sounding kits ever .

Hard to believe that no one has jumped on this kit. Great seller, great drums, great deal, and a super rare finish. I had this same finish on a Hilite kit and it was just gorgeous, especially under the lights. These drums really sing and have a super fat low end OOMPH. The bass drums are all just killer. Someone jump on these!

I was looking at that Sonor price list from the 90’s. Looks the a price list from todays drums! And a drum throne with a list of $220 in the 90’s. I think it reflects the lack of real competition, since there are so many competitors these days that make great products. Though another thought… There were far fewer Chinese imports back then. The imports back then were still from Japan. Which was much more quality, even though at the time, in comparison — we thought was inferior to US made.

How is this kit still available? Great seller here folks, so buy with confidence. He packages everything just beautifully to make the box "bomb proof." I can't say enough great things about Michiganice91! Cheers!

I have a Sonor Delite from Germany. Doesn’t look nearly as beefy as these Tanks! And I thought mine were heavy... I think the “concert Tom” depth though, was something that seemed to not catch on beyond the 90’s. Just my take. TIFWYW.

(I bet that Hilite Kick drum is a cannon though!)
