I've had 6 Sonor kits. I'm down to one now. Delite, Prolite (2), Vintage Series, SQ1, and an SQ2 heavy beech. I recently picked up my 2nd Prolite kit, a 6 pc 22.10.12.14.16 w/ 14x 6 matching snare. I've reassigned the matching snare to spare status. Finish here is Walnut Brown Burst.

Yup, I'm moving on from them. They're fantastic drums, but just not right for what I need from a kit right now. Plus I just have too many kits, and this is the only one that was purchased used (so I don't get hit on depreciation during selling) and the only one that's "collectible".

Wow! I did not see that coming, though I understand moving on from any kit that won't be used that much.

GLWS. I would be very interested but the financial outlay cannot happen right now.

Here’s my stuff. I used to have a stunning Delite kit in Birdseye Amber but foolishly sold it a few years back.

Really nice kits. Lovin' the smoke acrylic!

I have a few, these stand out. Champion (9 ply beech) 12/14/18BD and sunset (also beech 9 ply although modern) 12/14/18 (50 were made).

Here's a super-rare Signature HLD-580 with Scandinavian Birch veneer. I had it for 10 years before letting it go to a Japanese collector last year.

I took a drum lesson from this guy in the late 90s. He was playing this exact same Sonor drum set at the time I think. An S class. He had it set up in his tiny apartment.

These are often mistaken for Supraphonics. D-453 is the model.

When I was a kid, I lived walking distance from the drum shop owned and operated by Bill Zickos. Yep. THAT Bill Zickos. At the time, he wasn't yet a manufacturer of clear acrylic drums. He was a small shop with a teaching studio, and maybe the only Sonor dealer in Kansas City. And pretty much all of his students came away playing Sonor drums. I was not one of his students, so I did not. But I really admired those drums belonging to my friends. Pretty much all my life, I lusted after Sonor drums in one fashion or another, but the root of that lust was the beech shells of the '60s that I first fell for.

Cut to last fall, 2021. I walk into my LDS, and see... these. Boy howdy. It was love. Came back a couple of times, under the excuse of "I need a new head for my snare..." or "I wonder if they got in any Regal Tips?". Hint: they didn't. Anyway, I went in one more time, hoping they were still there... or that they were gone... and there they were. Priced right. So they came home with me. 22/13/16. Next thing I know, I'm prowling around the interwebs looking for a matching snare at a great price. Didn't find that, but I DID find the same kit in a west coast shop, but in 20/12/14. Same wrap, same tom mount. Made a bid, made a deal.

Now I have a beautiful shell bank of those same '60s-style beech shells that I fell in love with in the late '60s, in 22/20/12/13/14/16. I can pretty much cover anything I come up against with these drums. And I'm listing my beloved Classic Maples. Keeping my 1982 DWs though.

Sonor's red oyster is one of the classiest, best looking wrap ever. I have some vintage series in 13 16 22. And there is something VERY special about those beech shells...

I had this Sonor Champion acrylic drum set.
Sold it years ago. Not a good idea, cause this drum was really awesome. But I needed some cash. Take the photo in our old chubby band practice room.

One of my favourite snares these days . Sonor Protean 14 x 5.25” Gavin Harrison signature snare . It is incredibly versatile and having the quick change snare wire options is great . I was surprised how much I have enjoyed using the dampening rings as well .

Here’s a couple more of my Sonor horde. I’ve been playing Sonor’s since 1996.

Cast bronze 4” snare. This I got super cheap because the rims and tension rods were corroded badly. I got real lucky and found a set of NOS sonor copper rims, I mean that’s some dumb luck. A unicorn score. Had to get chrome replacement tension rods. Shell itself was excellent condition.

8/10 inch rosewood phonics. Part of a larger kit.

Scandinavian lite and teardrop rosewoods in storage.
