I Love the Ascent series, aside from the snares, they may be my favorite series.

Agreed, Steech. They were beautifully made, relatively inexpensive, and were usually offered with both matching snare and a full set of heavy duty 400 Series hardware. It's a real shame they didn't catch on. Sonor sometimes shoots themselves in the foot marketability-wise.

Some amazing kits here!

First serious new drumset was a Force 3003 in white sparkle, 10/12/14/16/22/snare.

Sold it when I needed space and was into other size drums.

Found a 5x14 rosewood in/out champion snare on tour in Europe in 2014 and that got me excited about Sonor.

A couple years later, I was on a quest to find a really great bop kit that wasn't Gretsch, and picked up a 12/14/18 beech finish late Champion. They worked wonderfully for the music I was playing at that time.

Maybe a year ago, I picked up a 10/12/13/14/16/22 rosewood Lite kit. Incredible drums. I don't play them as much as I'd like, but when I get to, they're pretty mindblowing, and the kind of Sonor kit I dreamed of as a young kid, watching videos of Chester Thompson and deJohnette.

“Sonor sometimes shoots themselves in the foot marketability-wise.” @David Hunter

Can you say Force? No other word in the Sonor lexicon is more confusing and controversial then the word Force imho.

Force
Force Custom
Force 2000
Force 3000
Force Maple
Force 1000
Force 2001
Force 2003
Force 2005
Force 3001
Force 3003
Force 3005
Force 1003
Force 1005
Force 503
Force 505
Force 2007
Force 3007
Force 1007
Force 507
Select Force
Smart Force
Essential Force
Smart Force Extended

That’s 20 plus individual kit models with the word Force in it and I bet I missed some.

Marketing genius at work……

Bill Krutzman just put this picture on his Facebook because today would’ve been Jerry Garcia‘s 80th birthday. Looks like some Rosewood Sonors?

Yep they had matching gold badge 1875 - 1975 rosewood inside out Phonics for a good 10 years into the mid 80s

You still are... I've sold them all. :)

They were all great, but personally, I especially loved the thin Vintage Maple shells with the rerings. They could do it all. 2nd choice would probably be Medium Beech.
which or if any do you own now @David Hunter
All gone. I had my fun with the higher end stuff, but I think I've comfortably settled into my Ludwigs for the remainder of my gigging career. To be honest, I was always nervous when bringing out the German Sonors. I just never knew what to expect (tiny stage? rowdy crowds? outdoors?, etc.) I didn't want to end up owning a drum museum, so I decided to start selling rather than stare at them in the corner of a drum room. Fantastic drums, but I'm equally happy with the Ludwigs.

Top: My Iridium Diamond Ascents at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They look great under the lights.

Below: My SQ2s in Redwine Dunes - the day I got em home...didnt have a clamp/holder for the 8" tom.

Not shown: S Classix in White Oyster Pearl...theyre at a studio across town.

All kits are 8/10/12/14/16/22
