I've wanted one of these ever since I saw them at GC in 1982. Picked these up on eBAY over the weekend. 12/14/18

Very nice! I've always wanted a set of black Recording Customs. Those are great sizes, too.

According to the seller, the set belonged to his father who owned a "huge drum store"; was a NAMM board member; played during the 50's-60's-70's; the set was a gift from YAMAHA. This is the stuff I love about collecting!

The 18" BD was the only option for the set, which came with a 20". Yes, with this kit's history they'll be with me for awhile.

The TT has some snare rash and based on the auction pics I had been considering sending them to Dolfan's painter for some new lacquer. But now with the history I'm getting, and depending on how well the rest of the drums clean up, I'm leaning toward letting them proudly tell their story. And in addition, WHO THE HELL IS IVAN? :dontknow:

SB,

Agreed, a clean "as-is" is often the best way to go. I don't want to hijack your thread on these wonderful RCs any more than I already have. I'll PM you the skinny on Ivan.

Now let's go back to enjoying the RCs!

Those badges threw me off, I have an early 80's "Premier" Yamaha snare with the same badges. What was that series called, anyway?
