Last winter, forum member Ptrick graciously sent me this Cherry Stave shell that needed finishing inside and out. I found some free time.. This is my first attempt at hand sanding and applying an oil rub to a drum.
I sanded this one down to 2000 grit before applying a few coats of Tung oil, then sanded and oiled once again. I am really happy with how it turned out. It's rimshots are absolutely ear piercing but in a warm/round/woody way. It has just enough of everything that I could want from a wood snare. The Pearl Free Floater chassis really lets the shell sing and the extended wires give it amazing sensitivity. I love this snare.
