The resulting damage and no name builder is why it’s $300 ……
It’s been in a case for about 2 years .
I have other snares I like better apparently.

It just adds to the drums story! And at that price, the buyer can make up thier own story if they want to!

Thanks - are they the same profile up and down? Can I see a photo of the writing/inscription in pic #3?

I found "PI Custom Drums" on Facebook, and the builder, James Paterson, did a drum exactly like this for a project in 2018. Here is the text of his post:

"A local build for a local group raffle. It's a steam bent walnut shell with tube lugs and a DW strainer and butt plate. This was the first steam bent I ever built, and the first drum to go out my doors with my wood badge on it. This was over $500 worth of parts to build and I took a big loss but that's what it takes to get the word out. If anyone is interested in a PI Custom Drums snare to be raffled off of this page please let me know by commenting on this post. If I can't get more than 50 comments over the next month I will not do one. It will be a steam bent shell similar to this one with high end components all the way around. The winner will have it shipped to them with only one request. To give a full honest review on this page of the drum. When I say honest, I mean all points both good and bad. The only way we get better is by honest criticism."

Here is a photo from it:

If someone yanked off the badge and played it for a few years, it might very well be the drum you have.

Apologies if I outed your secret!
No harm intended. I thought it was fun to investigate a "mystery drum".

Wasn’t trying to keep anything secret .

The builder isn’t known to anyone really .

The hoops look walnut, too? Are they part of the shell, or are they separate, if you know?
