Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if Tama made their early (late 80s, I believe--short lugs) Rockstar Drums in 22" by 18"? I've been perusing the catalogues and only found mention of 22" by 16".

I've never seen one in person, in any catalog, or in any Modern Drummer buyer's guide. Only seen 16s.

People do that a LOT. Seller probably either just guessed, or measured the hoops too.

Tama didn't make an 18" deep Rockstar kick until the 2000s. Except for limited addition Artstar models, Tama didn't have an 18" deep kick until the Starclassic series in the mid 90s. That size was exclusive to Starclassics until the 2000s.

I have a 1989 Rockstar kit. The first ones. Made in Japan. The kick is 22x16. It sounds great.
